Calling all Researchers and Scholars of Southeast Asian Performing Arts!

Join the 7th Symposium of the International Council for Traditional Music or ICTM Study Group on Performing Arts of Southeast Asia or PASEA, slated for 20-26 June 2024, at the University of the Philippines Visayas Campus in Iloilo City, Philippines.

ICTM-PASEA has hosted successful symposiums since 2010 around Southeast Asia. These were in Singapore (2010), the Philippines (2012), Indonesia (2014), Malaysia (2016 and 2018), and Taiwan (2021) – the first online symposium.
The 7th symposium themes include: 1) alternative modernities and evolving identities in the performing arts of Southeast Asia; 2) beyond analog: navigating the digital landscape of ethnomusicology, ethnochoreology and technology; and 3) new research.

The symposium will bring together new researchers and respected scholars in the field of Southeast Asian performing arts. This is a great opportunity to learn, connect, and collaborate.
Aside from individual paper presentations, PASEA 2024 is accepting proposals for organized panels, roundtable discussions, workshops, film viewing, lightning paper presentations, and poster presentations. We highly encourage graduate students to join as well.

PASEA 2024 is open to all ICTM members. We invite you to become a member of ICTM! This way, you can participate in the many symposia, workshops, and conferences hosted by ICTM. You may visit the ICTM website for more information.
